FAQs

  1. What division should I chose? What’s the difference?

There are three divisions in this year’s contest: Intermediate, Advanced and Open/Pro. You should enter the division in which you feel most confident, regardless of age. Note that the prize purse goes to Open/Pro division, Highest Air, Blocks for Bucks, and Cash for Tricks. Medals and trophies to be awarded for Intermediate and Advanced Divisions.

  • Intermediate is a competent skater of any age who needs more experience before competing with the more advanced skateboarders.
  • Advanced is a skater of any age who is almost ready to compete with the Pros.
  • Open/Pro features the world’s best skaters of all ages– and where the Prize Purse is offered.
  1. Can I enter in 2 different Divisions for the Same Event? For instance, can I enter both Advanced Street and Open/Pro Street?

You CAN enter more than one divisions, but be aware that the judges will not want to see the same tricks repeated, and doing so may negatively impact your score as you compete in the later divisions.

COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY > COMPETITION

Exposure is an inclusive community of women, trans, non-binary and other gender-diverse individuals. We recognize and value the contributions that our non-traditional community makes to skateboarding, and it is our intention to provide safe and inclusive spaces for competition and coming together.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO COMPETE IN OUR EVENT, YOU WILL BE COMPETING WITH OUR WHOLE COMMUNITY.

Exposure Skate does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities, events, or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, provision of services, participation at our events or inclusion on our social media channels. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, clients, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and participants.

A BENEFIT EVENT

FOR SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Proceeds from Exposure events go to the Domestic Violence Program at the Community Resource Center (CRC).

Exposure presents Exposure: A Women’s Benefit Event to (bring opportunity and visibility to women, trans and nonbinary skaters who have been historically disempowered in the skateboarding community. Each year, over 170 skaters from across the country and around the world come to southern California for the opportunity to share their skateboarding skills on a global stage.

The beneficiaries of our proceeds are the Community Resource Center (CRC) and their constituencies who provide support and resources for survivors of domestic violence, an issue which disproportionately impacts the same marginalized communities we serve. Since the flagship Exposure event in 2012, we have seen a 42% increase in our donation to survivors.

Exposure’s goal is to continue to provide valuable programs and events for all ages that create a culture of empowerment, empathy and service as well as enrich the quality of life for all in our orbit.
